Barberry, Thunberg's barberry 'Orange Ice'

A beautiful shrub with a compact, broad-columnar habit, reaching approx. 1 m in height. The leaves are large, broadly spatulate, densely arranged in clusters of several, with a rarely seen light orange colour. Older leaves are darker, with a very narrow yellow margin. The flowers are yellow, the fruits orange, and occur rarely. Young shoots, like the leaves, are orange. It grows well in sunny positions and in moderately fertile soils. Worth recommending due to the colour of its leaves, which are highly decorative. Suitable for home gardens, borders, groups and containers. Tolerates pruning. Frost-resistant.
